Software Development
You need your computer systems to work with you, not against you. You need them to work efficiently, not slow you down. You can't afford to sink time into making the system work. You have a business to run.
Household-name companies for whom I've developed software can afford to tinker with systems. The small business or nonprofit organization can't.
And you don't need a software guy to come in, half-listen to half of what you need, fire geeky questions at you, and act like you're stupid because you don't know what he's talking about. You don't need someone who wants you to come up with the ER diagram, design use cases, or do any other software-speak stuff.
That's true at major corporations, one-man shops, and everywhere in between.
Software development is what I do back at my office. It's what I got my college degree to do.
Speaking English to you to find out what you need and offer you a solution in understandable terms is what I'll do when I come to your place of business.
That's worked for the major corporations for whom I've developed software as an employee. It's worked for the small Greenville merchant services company for whom I've done a number of jobs under $100.
That approach will work for you.
